11:28 Microsoft legalize beta patches
Microsoft has announced a program of Defensive Information Sharing Program (DISP), which provides for cooperation with governmental agencies of different countries in the field of computer security. Under the program, Microsoft will disclose confidential technical information on all unpatched vulnerabilities. This project was mentioned earlier, code-named Omega. Microsoft stresses in this case, that information will be transmitted to Governments only after its own experts have completed the cycle of "investigation and correction" of vulnerability, but before leaving the patch. That is still no guarantee that the information will indeed be the "most urgent", as claimed by Microsoft. Know that Microsoft has previously discussed and to develop patches in secret with some trusted companies in the field of computer security. They also received a "beta" patch before their official release, so that Microsoft could at the last moment to make changes if the patch is not working properly. So now it seems that Microsoft in a sense legitimize this system, which acts as at least 2005. The list of countries for which entered into force pilot programs DISP, do not call. Reported only to what they should be part of programs Government Security Program (GSP) and the Security Cooperation Program (SCP). Perhaps, the Russian special services will now be operational reports from Microsoft about vulnerabilities uncovered.
